Activities for Young People |
| |
As a group and community we feel strongly that investing in our children and young people is to make a positive and vital commitment to all our futures. If we are to create a fair and respectful community we must listen to young people and take on board their opinions and aspirations and demonstrate to them in a positive and affirming manner our belief in them, their talents and their energies.
We have continued to build on this work year on year - reaffirming our commitment to each upcoming generation and raising funding for the each individual project as we have gone along. We are delighted to say that over the years we have received quite wonderful support from the local business community who have generously contributed in kind to us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them all publicly here, and hope their philanthropy continues for many years to come!
Here are a few of the highlights of some of the events, activities & trips we have organised over the years. |

Annual Talent Show |
| |
Now one of the main events in the communal life of the estate We put on our first show back in 2004 and this has now become one of the local highlights in the run up to Christmas. Any young person between the ages of 7 to 19 years can audition to perform – with auditions held around the back end of November. Children and Young People are encouraged to come along to audition – whatever their performing talent is – singers, dancers, musicians, comedians or novelty acts, we get the lot! This year (2008) the big prize for winning the show is going to be £50 – but most of our entrants are more concerned about getting the opportunity to let their talent shine, rather than having their eye on the big prize!
All proceeds for the event this year will be going to the Joshua Foundation (a charity providing respite care for terminally ill children).
This is a much loved local event which brings the whole community together and gives us good cause to be justifiably proud of our young people and stars of the future! |

| |
Organised around the summer school holidays the Fun Day provides the whole community with an opportunity to come together and celebrate simply being together! Very much like the Christmas talent shows the Fun Days have now become something we all look forward to. |
